Outside of the curriculum taught by our faculty, nothing prepares you for your career like our comprehensive internship program.
Equestrian teacher/trainer and facility management majors must complete a minimum 50-hour internship within the industry. The professional relationships LEC maintains with both national and international farms and trainers allow us to secure some of the best internship opportunities available. You complete small, well-defined projects while gaining invaluable real-world experience.
The professional connections with prospective employers and your future peers give you a leg-up in an industry that values experience along with education.

Over the last 5 years our stable, M&W Horses, Inc. has been fortunate enough to have included a number of wonderful students and graduates from Lake Erie College. This relationship began when I met Director Mary Pardee at Lake Erie, during the Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session where I was the head clinician in 2017. I was very impressed with the Equestrian Program at Lake Erie and inquired if we could possibly work together and on occasion have students come to our stable and work and learn from our program. In every case, we were very impressed with the knowledge and work ethic from the Lake Erie students. We have a very high standard of care at our operation and this blended wonderfully with the Lake Erie students. Very impressive!
